My turn!

One thing that I found insane the other day is that Emma, Sherrie, and I will have been out of JBU five years this year!!!!!! Crazy how time flies! How much has happened and how much we have changed!

Life has been interesting here in Chi-town. Aside from the ridiculous cost of renting a place of your own and paying for the crazy expensive gas over here....I still love living here :] I am looking for a roommate because my lease runs out at the end of May and I can not afford to live in this place any more. I am still working for JCPenney or jcp now. Yes they want us to call it jcp instead because it is more hip? Not sure....it just confuses our older customers who want their coupons back. We have a new CEO who used to work for Steve Jobs at Apple and they have changed the way they do their sales in the store and some people, not all, have not liked it....We also got a new store manager that, until recently, had been a bit difficult to get along with. I am also still involved with the Amway team here in Chicago.

Other than that my life hasn't been too crazy...my parents are another story...My mom underwent hip replacement surgery in November and is just now going back to work. So that has been a crazy experience for my mom who has also lost about 45lbs. I was at home this past weekend for a visit after over a year from the last time I was in St. Louis. Got to see quite a few friends and went to the Science Center for their Star Trek Exhibit. Ever since the new Star Trek movie, I have become a fan of the franchise. :]

Other than that, that about covers it. I am also singing in a musical for Palm Sunday so if you find yourself at home by a computer and would like something to commemorate Palm Sunday, go to www.cc-ob.org and click on the live stream link. We will be singing at 10:00am on Sunday, April 1st. I am in the soprano section so it will be on the left side of the choir loft as you look at the screen.  You can go there on any Sunday at 10:00am and watch the service. I sing every other Sunday. Except for these next two Sundays coming up before Palm Sunday.

Hope everyone is doing well and hopefully hear from you guys soon!!!!!!

And... A Post!

Sherrie is right. We are all leading very different lives than we did when we all lived together. I wish we would write more often too. I guess I'll start and hopefully everyone else will write too!

Lately, I've been venturing into a new and slightly exhausting world... party/concert planning and organizing. We successfully pulled off a charity concert this weekend that raised about $2,000 dollars for an unwed mother association. It definitely was not without its bumps along the way, though -- including sending someone 45 minutes back to my apartment to pick up the raffle prizes that got left behind AND running around in 30 degree weather without a coat in 4-inch heels trying to find an internet cafe so I could print off the after party guest list -- but we were all happy with the end product and now know what we need to work on and improve for the next concert in the series over the summer.

Also, a friend of mine who is a hip-hop artist over here and performed at the event said his boss at the label was very impressed with the show and wants to contact me about potentially doing some projects with them, which is awesome and at the same time terrifying. I definitely need to start studying Korean again and widen my personal network...

I'm working at a newspaper now as my main job on the culture and sports desk, but a few of the story ideas I've had have fallen to the wayside for the last month while I worked on the concert in my spare time. I'm hoping to get them started up soon, before my desk editor forgets. One is interviewing a celebrity that owns a booking bar in my neighborhood. The other is discrimination against foreigners in Seoul at some of the clubs. (AKA no foreigners allowed in...)

And that's about it for now, I suppose. There is a lot more going on, but I'm so tired that I seem to have forgotten what...

Different Strokes

We are all so different now. This blog would be the most random assortment of tales if we all still blogged.

Long Time No... Read?

안녕하세요! 잘 지냈어?

Since it's been forever and a day since anyone has written anything on here, I decided I would do a little update of sorts. Granted, you probably know most of this stuff from my Facebook, but whatever.

- Momma- Mom is doing well. She's back at work. One tumor is gone and the three others are considerably smaller. This is VERY good news, because normally you don't see this much improvement on a 6-week scan. In fact, her neurosurgeon told her not to expect any changes for six more weeks. We're hoping that the two smaller tumors are gone by her next scan in about five weeks. If she can go two years cancer-free, the doctors say there is a very good chance it won't come back and if she's goes 5 years, well, she can just consider herself cancer-free forever.

- Work- I'm still at Arirang editing. I almost went for an interview at a media company to edit subtitles for Korean movies, TV shows, etc., but the conditions weren't that much better than where I currently work and I would be doing the same thing. Plus, I wasn't 100% sure how the experience would translate back in the US and Mom REALLY didn't want me signing a two-year contract. And... almost two years of not going into the office until 2 and 5 pm has really spoiled me... as have the 5-day weekends every other week... Though, I'm pretty busy with side stuff Monday through Friday... so if you think of it that way, every other week I don't get a weekend...

- Fun Work- My freelance writing is starting to bloom. I was asked to do a big feature on the two biggest rock festivals in Korea. In return, I'm getting a 3-day press pass to my favorite one. (Which is awesome, they are around $200.) I'm getting into the good graces of several fairly well known bands here, which will help when it comes to interviewing people, and well, it means I get to randomly hang out with rock bands, which is great fun. I highly recommend it. Just be prepared for a lot of second-hand smoke... Oh, and I'm going to see Ben Folds for free soon. Another perk of being a rock journalist...

- Love Life- Not much of one. I mostly live vicariously through my sister Megan (who will probably be getting engaged in the next year). And then my friends in relationships live vicariously through me in my crazy single escapades in a ginormous city (that seriously doesn't sleep, I mean really. More than NYC. There are bars open until 8 and 10 am here... Or so I've heard...). But there is someone who might play a bigger role in the love life department soon... I'll keep you posted...

And that's about it, I suppose. ^_^ I just wonder if anyone still reads this thing...
